Do you struggle to connect with your audience? Are you in the dark about what actually makes a story good? What if you could take your skills to the next level?
My new Mentorship Program is designed to teach you the most important
aspects of visual storytelling in a short amount of time. These principles are
more important than your drawing skills, the quality of your equipment,
or your number of collaborators. Each month, I’ll work one-on-one with
you to develop a polished short film. You’ll also have 24/7 access
to
60+ minutes of video lectures, 125 pages of worksheets, and several project files.
You'll Learn:
- Character Creation and Concept Design
- The Psychology Behind Color Theory
- Shot Composition & Storyboarding
- How to Find Your Audience
- How to Work with Voice Actors
- A Six-Part Formula for Effective Storytelling
by student Cory Clayton
Cory Clayton developed a pitch bible under my mentorship. He pitched his series to Adult Swim on-air, and went on to raise hundreds of dollars to fund it!

When you sign up, you’ll gain access to my direct mentorship, a tight-knit community of fellow creators, and 24/7 access to my ever-growing collection of lecture videos, tutorials, project files, and more.
Every month, you have the chance to win an award for the quality of your short. Having a small group of collaborators and competitors is a great way to push your skills to the next level. There will even be cash prizes in the near future.
Finding direct feedback from mentors in the field is a luxury that's
usually only available to art students. Most industry professionals are
too busy to give you the attention that helps the most. I want to change
that. If you join my mentorship program, I'll work with you on any
project from beginning to end, including draw-overs, video critiques,
and honest, constructive criticism.

Your Instructor
Callison
Slater is an animator from Arlington, Virginia. Callison has studied at
The Art Institute of Washington, VCU School of the Arts, and NOVA
Community College.
At age 17, he took home his first film festival award for his animated short, The Woes of Marsh. Since then, he’s won ‘Best Animation’ at the New York Short Film and Screenplay Competition, ‘Best Animation’ at the Sixteen is to Nine International Film Festival and the ‘Audience Choice Award’ at the Rockport Film Festival. Callison has done freelance work for Generic Theater in Norfolk, VA, Our Task INC., and the Maida Withers Dance Construction Company. From 2014 to 2015, he was a member of the Channel Frederator Network, spearheading a network-wide collaboration, as well as pitching the concept for their “Then VS. Now” series. In 2017, Callison became Lead Animator for Scamazon, a political satire website. Most recently, Callison Slater has been invited to RTX Austin as one of fifty guest animators from across the USA (two years in a row) & worked on promos for George Lopez.
Cal likes making weird cartoons and videos. When he was 6 he tried to make an animation machine out of a tissue box and a bunch of printer paper taped together. It didn’t work, but in Middle-School he found that skipping class to mess around with Flash MX worked better. He also overcame his fear of pool filters.
